Keum Boo (also spelled Kum Bu) is translated as “attached gold”, and is an ancient technique for attaching 24k Gold to other metals. It originated in Korea and has been used in many countries and cultures around the world, finally making it’s way to the West in the 1980’s.

The result of the Keum Boo technique is a permanent and durable bond that doesn’t require soldering.

This technique works best when pure gold is attached to other pure metals, so Fine Silver metal clay is a great choice. You'll also learn the process of depletion guilding which is used when attaching the gold to Sterling Silver.

Experience: Metalsmithing Basics, Metal Clay Basics or equivalent
